Lava Glass Studio 'Volcanic Series' blown glass
Glass artist Lynden Over and his wife Christine are behind Lava Glass Studio, located in Taupo.
Lynden trained at Northland Polytechnic in Whangarei, before opening Lava Glass in 2002, developing it into a leading New Zealand glass arts practice.
'Volcanic Series' is a distinctive range of blown glass vessels, evocative of the land and seascapes of Aotearoa, New Zealand.
Individually hand blown, there is slight variation between each vessel.
Lukeke Design cast glass 'Wall Birds'
Lukeke Design is an Auckland based glass studio founded by American Katherine Rutecki and local boy Luke Jacomb. Both artists were already independently established within the studio glass movement, before collaborating in New Zealand to develop this range.
The birds are New Zealand species, made from 40% lead crystal, using the lost wax casting process. They are designed to be mounted on the wall, singly or most effectively in a flock of multiples.
John Penman blown glass
John Penman is a New Zealander who studied Glass Art at the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design in America, before returning home to set up his studio in central Auckland.
Acknowledged as one of few artists worldwide to use 'photosensitive' glass, John employs it to capture images from the world of nature in a very limited series of vessels. These rare works of glass art are subtle, in contrast to the saturated colour of his other series.
Over three decades, Gallery Pacific has offered select pieces from John Penman's studio, and continues to source works from his library collection. Offered for sale in sets, they may also be purchased individually by arrangement with Gallery Pacific.
